Is Lush 100% Natural? ›

At Lush we minimise the use of synthetics and preservatives. We take special care to ensure we use only the safest and mildest preservatives we know. Our fresh masks are as nutritious as fruit smoothies for the face – 100% natural, totally unpreserved – they are the centre piece of our shops.

LUSH does not use microplastics in any of its products – but they still keep their sparkle! At the end of January 2013, LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics announced its decision to remove all microplastics (plastic glitter) from its products.

Where does Lush source lavender from? Lush sources lavender oils from a couple of suppliers. One is based in the warm and sunny region Provence region of France, while the other is an organic-certified Bulgarian distiller.

Today, synthetic colours are regulated and approved for safe use by different governing bodies around the world. After having checked their safety, a few of these are used by Lush to supplement natural pigments and achieve a full cruelty-free pallet of colour.

In the meantime, however, we use a maximum of two synthetic preservatives in any one product: generally either a team consisting of two types of paraben: methylparaben and propylparaben, or a team consisting of the chemical compound phenoxyethanol/2-phenoxyethanol and an alcohol called benzyl alcohol.

The most common side effects of this medicine include burning sensation, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application and skin dryness. These are not usually serious and resolve with time. Call your doctor if these persist or bother you.

We invent our own products and fragrances. We make them fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made. We believe in buying ingredients only from companies that do not commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans.

Is Lush good or bad? ›

Most of their formulas contain high amounts of synthetic fragrance and dyes. Sure, humans like things that smell good and look pretty. But both of these ingredients do not serve any beneficial purpose whatsoever in skincare products.

Since 1st January 2018, Lush stopped using natural mica in our products. Lush products (sparkly or not) use colourants and materials that are safe for cosmetics and are controlled by cosmetic regulations which stipulate safe uses and percentages.

Partially. Lush also doesn't claim to be all-natural but has nevertheless earned a reputation as an all-natural beauty product company. It's important to note that all of Lush's products are made with natural ingredients—but many also contain possibly harmful synthetics.

We still remain on the lookout for any new studies and follow the regulations (and are actually way below them). In the EU, methylparaben can make up to 0.4% of a formula whether it's used with other parabens or on its own. Lush formulas use a concentration of only 0.2%.
