WEDNESDAY, 1992 THE RECORD SE-11 Cobras earn two wins The Clifton Cobras opened the New Jersey Fall Softball League with two victories Sunday at Sperling Park. Dana De Vito of Clifton and Michelle Meccia of Little Ferry combined for 11 strikeouts as the Cobras downed River Dell, 8-4. Clifton outfielder Wendy Pavlicek belted a two-run double and Clifton second baseman Gina Roberto had two singles. The Cobras also outlasted Passaic Valley, 5-4, in eight innings. Clifton broke a 3-3 tie on run-scoring singles by DePaul senior Tracy McDonald and Meccia.
Meccia, a Ridgefield Park freshman, and Nutley's Kim Higgins combined on a three-hitter. PV junior Kris Innocent fanned 11. In another result, River Dell tripped Ridgewood, 3-1. Heather MacRae picked up the win. SPORTS BULLETIN BOARD Hiking The Bergen Mall and the local chapter of the Sierra Club will sponsor a hike this fall for students 12-20 years old.
